LIKWIT | EMCEE
Afrikaans lyricist Justin Madikana aka Likwit was born in Scottsville, Kraaifontein.
He was exposed to HipHop through cyphers at high school in the halls during intervals, which inspired him to start writing rhymes.
In 1997 his family moved to Sunbird Park in Kuils River where he became part of a group called Fugitives.
The year 2000 he was introduced to Chase Lutron who was known as Mastah Blitz at the time. The two, with their friend Jitsvinger formed a group called Mo’Style who was known for their technical writing, flows, lyricism and skill that initially gave birth to a new style of Afrikaans rap. He recorded his first single with Jitsvinger called Stamina produced by HIPE. He’s known for his compelling story telling ability and introspective content.
During 2003 Likwit became addicted to drugs and went through a phase where everything just went on a downwards spiral. He made his return in 2007 through the Gospel scene, writing about his challenges and victories in life. This launched him as an activist in his community and a motivational speaker for youth at risk.
